Maria and Mary at the loom

Maria and Mary at the loom

On Monday morning, we gathered in to Circle Hall and shared our thoughts about how well everybody did in the fairy tale. Our plan for next year is to increase our rehearsal time by starting earlier. In the afternoon we had a good bye party for our volunteer Maria who is going back to Sweden. During our party a group of volunteers, co-workers and some companions acted out skits about Maria’s life in Sweden and here at Cascadia. After that everybody gave a thank you speech and a small gift. We thanked her for her time at Cascadia and then we sang the Cascadia song.
In our Thursday morning College, we sang our November songs and then Daniel gave us an introduction of what we will be learning in the next couple of colleges during Advent. He said that we will be learning about the qualities of father, mother and child. After that Daniel walked through a spiral that he put down to show us the time from birth until death. Marie -Reine asked everybody to come up with a couple of words representing father. Some said role model, provider, leader and king. Then we got into four groups and talked about our own fathers. After a short break we took out our music sheets and put in our Advent and Christmas song sheets and started to practice for our Christmas Pageant.
Wednesday and Thursday afternoon we made Christmas wreaths at Circle Hall. On Friday afternoon, we had a thank you and good bye party for the students from Waldorf school. Ruth T. played her lyre and the students and companions thanked each other and then sang ‘People Look East.’
