This week in our Monday morning gathering, Megan played the piano while we sang our spring songs. Then we talked about the weather, stars, sports and our weekends. After that William announced that our former co-worker, Julia, will visit us in May. Then we sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Brian.

In the afternoon, we gathered into Circle Hall for our dance lesson. Laura led us in the waltz and morris dancing. Vitor taught us how to do Brazilian Tango and the ChaChaCha.

Melina and others performing the EVOE at the Kay Meek Mother Holle performance

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, we broke into our eurythmy, painting, reading, writing, clay, art studio and singing groups.

On Thursday morning, Lorna’s bell choir practiced their bell playing. We also welcomed back Ruth and Patricia from their trip to Palm Springs. After a short break Daniel told us the biography of John Cage. John Cage was born in Los Angeles in 1912. He studied music and composition with Arnold Schoenberg. During that time of his life, John was very interested in all of the visual arts such as painting, drama and music. In 1961, John was invited to perform on the television show ‘I’ve Got A Secret.’ He performed musical sounds using water, plastic bands, five radios, a rubber duck and a grand piano. After hearing about John Cage’s different style of playing music, we broke into five groups and played music just like Cage by using water, sticks, stones and a piano.
On Friday morning, we practiced our EVOE and our bell playing for the Camphill Association. In the afternoon, one group went swimming and another group did Spacial Dynamics with Graham.
