This week in our Monday morning gathering, we sang our spring song ‘Oh welcome to you.’ After that Liisi read to us this week’s ‘Calendar of the Soul’ verse and then everybody shared their weekend. Then John and William talked to us about the stars and Gundula and Jeff looked back at last week’s weather. Also we welcomed back Wes from Thailand and Gundula from Germany.
In our Thursday morning College, we learned about the Cherry and Oak tree. To start off, we sang our March songs and then Evan showed us a piece of Cherry wood. After that Toni told us that the Cherry tree is a part of the Rose family. It produces fruit and flowers. The Cherry tree can be found in every continent of the world. Although the leaves are poisonous, the fruit is delicious to eat. Many people use the Cherry wood to build furniture. Then Dennis and Mary talked about the Oak tree which is one of the strongest tree in the world. This tree produces acorns. The wood was used for making wine barrels and building train tracks. Dennis told us a German fairy tale about the Oak tree. In the fairy tale a young boy promised to sell his soul to the devil when the last Oak tree leaf falls. The last leaf from the tree didn’t fall so the young boy was able to keep his soul. After a short break, the colleg group continued their study of the Cherry and Oak tree by playing the C scale on the bells and then doing eurythmy.
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we gathered into our eurythmy, painting, clay, reading, writing, swimming, art studio and singing groups.
