This week in our Monday morning gathering, Marie-Reine read to us this week’s ‘Calendar of the Soul’ verse. Then everybody shared what they did on their weekend. After that Deepak introduced his new feature, ‘Today in History.’ He told us that today in 1918, the very first mail route went from New York City to Washington, D.C. Also, nylon stockings went on sale for the first time. Last but not least, the very first McDonald’s opened in California. Then John talked to us about the stars and last week’s weather. After that we welcomed seventeen Korean people by singing our May song, ‘May Carol.’ They came to see and learn about our program, so Patricia and Jason divided them into two groups and showed them around.
On Tuesday afternoon, we had a good bye party for our volunteer Rebecka.
In our Thursday morning College, we sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Aileen. Then Elliot talked to us about the three different stages of becoming a knight. In the first stage we learned that all seven year old boys go to school to learn to read and write until they are fourteen years of age. In the second stage, the boys become Squires in order to learn how to fight with swords, take care of the knight’s horses and help with the knight’s armour. At the age of twenty-one they are finally dubbed ‘knight’ and they serve the castle which is the centre of their kingdom. After that we sang ‘Eternal Knighthood’ and ‘The Quest of the Holy Grail.’
We practiced our bell playing and acted out the story of ‘Parzifal.’
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we broke into our eurythmy, painting, clay, reading and writing, cooking, games and dancing groups.
