Craft Conference
From Friday until Sunday, visitors from different Camphills came to Circle Hall to take part in the Craft Conference. The theme of the conference was ‘The Love of Material.’ Scott, Stephen, Aiden and I were able to join in and tell everyone what we did in our own workshops. We also heard from weavers, potters, felters, basket weavers and a mosaic maker. During the talks, I was interested in the crafts other people do compared to what we do here at Cascadia. I learned that we do the same crafts but in different ways. During the rest of the Conference everybody explored the quality of the different materials and the healing qualities of crafts.
This week in our Monday morning gathering, we sang our Michaelmas songs and then we talked about the weather, stars and our weekends.
On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons, we broke into our eurythmy, painting, reading, writing, clay, games and swimming groups.
In our Thursday morning College, Ruth O. announced that John (one of our companions) will be leaving us. Also Vern has completed putting in the flagstones which, together with Ruth’s mosaics, will form our patio in front of Circle Hall.. After that we planned our college topics from now until January 2016. Then we decided that this year’s Halloween theme will be ‘water’.
After a short break Lorna’s bell choir practiced their bell playing for the fairy tale.
