Michaelmas Celebration
On Thursday morning we gathered into Circle Hall and sang our Michaelmas songs. After that we got into our groups to set up for the celebration. One group prepared the Harvest table and built the hut for the ferryman. A second group prepared the garden for Lily and the third group built the house for the old woman and man. Megan and Jennifer assisted William, Marijke and Caitie 0 in the making of the Harvest meal of Pumpkin Soup and Buns.
In the afternoon, we performed the first half of the fairy tale ‘The Green Snake and the Beautiful Lily.’
In the evening our families took part in our Pot Luck Harvest Celebration. The tables were set in Cascadia House, and all the delicious variety of foods were set on the long table. After the enjoyable meal and friendly get together, our new companion, Evan entertained us with the singing of ‘What a Wonderful World.’ At the end everyone joined in.
On Friday morning, the Arbutus Ensemble entertained us with an hour of classical music and songs for our Fairy Tale.
In the afternoon, we practiced our play with the grade eight students from Waldorf High School.
